As I continue my search for a career/job/money/business/whatever, I’ve been thinking heavily about life in general. Where am I heading? Where are we heading? Are we all going to become nothing in 2012?
I’m begining to believe more and more that we have come to a stagnant time in terms of a society, as progressive beings. Has our technological progression finally plateaued? Have we made information so readily available to us in such a way that what is suppose to make us smarter and more efficient has really hindered us?
Case and point: the idea of multi-tasking…we can multi-task in so many different layers. We multi-task when we utilize our phones for multiple purposes, we multi-task when our boss or job asks us to, some of us also multi-task because we have to…because we have kids, or because its a matter of life-and-death, or some shit like that.
This topic came to mind when my girlfriend came across this article: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32541721/ns/health-mental_health/ (2009)
Has the idea of multi-tasking as efficient ran its course?
Interesting enough, the notion that multi-tasking is “bad” was discussed even 8 years ago: http://archives.cnn.com/2001/CAREER/trends/08/05/multitasking.study/
just a random thought.
